Suspect faces murder charge 18 months after homeowner shot at him, intruders

Crime March 30, 2018
By Raisa Habersham, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

A home invasion suspect caught in a Gwinnett homeowner’s gunfire was arrested this week — 18 months after surveillance footage caught the deadly shooting on camera, according to warrants.

Bernard Little faces armed robbery and felony murder charges in the September 2016 home invasion, according to jail records. Arrest warrants allege Little took a cellphone during the burglary.

One intruder, 28-year-old Antonio Leeks, was found dead in the driveway. A third suspect, who has not been named, was also implicated in the burglary.

In the early morning Sept. 16, 2016 attack, homeowner Feng Zhu Chen fired shots at the three men, who were seen on surveillance footage busting through the door and rummaging the Doravile home, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.

Another person in the residence said he first saw the men in the Spring Drive residence and made some noise to wake Chen. The woman flew out her bedroom and fired several rounds, striking and killing Leeks.

According to Georgia law, Little faces a murder charge since allegedly committed a felony that led to another person’s death.

Authorities have not released a description of the other suspect.
