The three lines they are starting will give our side of the plant a much needed break on the cost of power and metal. We have our own power plant which has been running one unit at 60% power to supply us with High Temp Water for our process and power. They use the condensate off one of the turbines to circulate the water to us at about 400 degrees and 400 PSI. We use this to heat our tanks instead of steam or electric heaters. We only use about 30% of the power from the one unit and sell the rest of the power on the grid for a loss. With the POT lines running we will need all three units from the power plant to melt the aluminium and provide power to us.
They are already shuffling people to the smelter and getting the ball rolling pretty quickly. The next six months are going to be living hell trying to get people qualified in new positions.
