Our site stayed with Alcoa Corp, even though we are the only rolling mill asset they own, the rest is Aluminia, Refining, Power and Smelting.

Today the President of our business unit which includes smelting, announced they will be restarting 3 of our 5 pot lines by 2Q 2018. It will take about a year to refurbish and get things right to start them back up. This means our power rate will be drastically lower in our rolling mills which means we should be able to turn a much better profit.
Looks like they will be hiring about 275 people back. The company had laid off about 300 when the pot rooms shut down. Altogether there were 600 jobs lost when we shut them down.
Does make things feel a little better at work knowing we will be getting molten metal instead of being a cold metal Aluminum rolling mill
GREAT NEWS

As a machinist, this makes me happy. Not only is a USA based metal producer going back on line, the upgrades create or keep more jobs and the investment in the upgrade also translate into better profits.
