I was a career Marine, and we only had trousers. Pants were for slimy civilians, and dungarees were for sailors.

I was indoctrinated that we couldn't wear jeans. It was easy to spot a Marine officer out of uniform. We always wore polo shirts, khakis, and topsiders.
