As has been said, that would have the opposite effect of what you want to do. To make it go out you would want to jump the connector.

If you can't fix it the "right" way or simply don't want to spend any money on new parts for it, putting a jumper in that plug would make the light go out for good... assuming that the problem is in the buckle/switch area.
