That is a gross oversimplification of the situation. The workers at those plants have spoken with management and have on occasion gotten increased pay / benefits just with the threat of unionizing. They are in essence getting the benefits of being in a union without union membership.

So by paying them less, they can sell their products for less than their American counterparts.
