I've experienced similar in other high-end restaurants and it is a schtick to me, and not a bad one either. And yeah, it must grow tiresome dealing with the tourons who go to NYC and decide to eat in a nice restaurant for the first time. sure, but not "asshole" or undeserved lol Steak joints in NYC, unless owned by some dbag celebrity chef, are traditionally masculine, that's all I'm saying.
Plus, when the tourists from all over the world factor is thrown in, you get the idea.
