Man, do I wish!

There's an official light pollution scale that goes from 1-9, 1 being the darkest. I live in an '8'. It's a 2.5 hour drive to an area that's dark enough to effectively capture the Milky Way, galaxies, and nebula shots. Nearly all the space stuff I've posted was taken at a dark site that's rated a '2' or '3' on the scale. Only very remote areas get a rating of '1'.

Recently I got a set of filters that block all but very narrow slices of the visible spectrum. I can use those from the patio to capture some objects but it's a complicated process. The captured images aren't color images so color has to be assigned to each filter and blended during processing. The results can be beautiful but they don't accurately reflect the true colors of the object. Many of the published Hubble images use this method. Just learning how that all works and hope to have something publish here soon.

It will be great to set up on the patio and let the camera click away!
