Nah - I was with State Farm back when they were a "mutual" company. When they made money we got a refund. It worked.
Insurance isn't something that should be done as a profit center. There's not a product or service to be bought and sold. It's simply a means to manage risk and beneficially support individuals across a large community pool. When the profit motive comes into play choices are made without basis as to risk or the community.
I don't disagree that something has to be done (I say "has to" because nothing gets done for 4 more years). But the Single Payer system isn't it. And just because the system needs repair and reinvention does not mean it needs to be run by the government. That will not fix it, but the Democrats have never been able to see past a government administered program as the only solution.
