She just went into surgery about half an hour ago. She has difficulties with anesthesia allergies so she is a unique patient in that sense. Our usual anesthesiologist retired recently, so we have to "break in" a new guy. I met him today, he is a former Navy fighter pilot and Naval Academy graduate. I have lots of confidence in him. We are using a nerve block in the lower spine and electrical pulse stimulation to cancel pain. She will be conscious during the surgery, using noise cancelling headphones.
This is a very unique situation, but we had many meetings and planned this all out and it seems to be going well. I will keep you posted with a few hours from now. Much thanks for all the well wishes.
