Today it was announced that Sanibel Island is uninhabitable and they are removing all remaining residents from the island. Best guess is it will take 1 year to get the causeway rebuilt. 1 year.... think about that. 7,000 people live on that island, not even counting Captiva. All residents, and all workers from both islands are now banned from the island. No home, no work, no nothing. Fort Myers Beach is worse.  |
A good friend bought a condo on Ft.Myers Beach 18 months ago for a winter 2nd home. He is on the 4th floor and according to a neighbor, the area is trashed but the building survived.
