It runs good for about one mile, then it just bogs down. On my list of cheap fixes are the fuel pump regulator and the pump screen before I spend big bucks on the cats. I have just 87,000 miles on it. Would cats get clogged that soon?

NO, Mike cats lasted 250,000 miles. In my LT1 the cats have 108,000 miles and they smogged fine few months ago.
