I have a tale to tell about the same year/model Chevy... but the ending wasn't so nice.
The guy (Roy) across the street from my parent's home (where I grew up) worked for GM and had one of those (327/275 auto, loaded) he bought new.
It was his pride and joy.
By 1984, it had serious cancer, and so did the owner.
He was dying. Maybe a year to live.
His three sons had it flatbedded away, and I guess Roy thought that was it.
What they did was had it totally restored, which must've cost a fortune at the time. The thing was in really bad shape!
As he was nearing the end, and in great depression, they brought it home for him to have a few last drives in.
All the neighbourhood knew, and you've never seen a happier dying man!
As it happened, he LIVED to drive the car... maybe 4 or 5 more months when the doctors said he should be dead.
The oldest son still has the car.
