The short game is the part that normally suffers after a layoff. And you have been on an extended layoff. On a nice day after work, run up to the golf course and practice until it improves.
I have two putting mats in my house. One in the garage and one in the Cave. I roll putts all the time.
Growing up I had a putting green in my backyard with holes and pins. Practice does help.
After a long absence, I found my driver. I am smoking my driver. The game got easier.
