I can paint cars, bodywork, etc...watching one of the resto shows on TV a guy brought in his old truck. It was factory lacquer and super thin at that. He wanted a paint correction done to make it look better, but stay original. They buffed the roof and piled on several coats of a clear lacquer over the top. It looked like a new paint job. The drawback was 2 days. labor just for the roof. You can imagine a whole truck.

You should at least clay bar and buff it

We have a local antique tractor club that I have friends as members. They do some cool restorations and then find fields to mow and plow with them.
