We were able to go baller on the elastic because the hospital is reimbursing us for all our materials. My wife bought five 100 ft. rolls of it on Amazon. Cost about $130.

My wife embroidered a mask for her daughter with her name and title on it. A few years ago we spent $900 on a sewing machine that embroiders the alphabet and a lot of symbols automatically, so it's easy to do. As soon as people saw it, everyone wanted one. Nurse's week is coming up in May and the hospital usually gives them all some kind of gift, such as a jacket, sweatshirt, coffee mug, etc. So the hospital wants an embroidered mash for every nurse, CNA, etc. and asked what she would charge for that. So a few hundred embroidered masks at $5 each. We didn't start doing this to make money, after all we are volunteers, but it came to us anyway. Sometimes things just work out.
