This part of the story makes no sense at all.

His head bounced twice off the floor, I forgot to put a pillow down first. Derek remained unconscious with foaming at the side of the mouth. I said I'm starting CPR."

WTH would you start CPR on a victim with a 'good pulse'? The intent of CPR is to manually replace the heart's pumping action if it has stopped or is fibrillating.
