Actually it is you who fail to comprehend. I do not form emotional attachments with inanimate objects. "Things" are purchased because they fulfill a need, or are a good investment or are practical in some other sense.
Let me put it to you this way... Assuming we are awake and fully clothed when the 5 minute GTFO comes we would be gone in less than 2 minutes. I would grab the love of my life, and the box. The box contains things like insurance policies, passports, car titles, cash etc. And a weapon with spare mags and ammo. And a white light source with spare batteries. And a week's worth of meds for both of us. We would pile into the Subaru because it is easier to sleep in than anything else we own and be gone. That's it and the rest can either be replaced or stored in our memories. Again, stuff is just stuff; it does not define who we are as people because we are self aware enough that we are not defined by the shit we own.
