I've seen pictures of the Morikawa family, and both Mom and Dad look pretty Asian to me. Also, everything I read says he comes from a "Japanese-Chinese" family.
Maybe Collin just wants to be an American, without any kind of asterisk or hyphenation about ethnicity?

People only want to be a specific race when wanting attention or something given to them. True Americans regardless of race or creed identify as Americans whose familes came from somehwere else(like 99% of us did).
Are we supposed to treat those who identify as something non American special or something? If so i missed that fukin memo.
