But I could not plan anything in my personal life because I never knew when I would be home. It was fun for awhile and a great resume builder, but I lasted less than a year.

I spent over 20 years doing round the world trip at least 4 times a year. Racked up millions of elite status miles . I almost always made my plans 2 to 3 months in advance so I dis not miss birthdays, holidays and other family events. Still missed way to much normal family time.
The kids did have some really nice vacations paid for by the travel.
