As a Jew, if the student *did* come up with valid points, while a despicable human being, I think well...
My big peeve is that let's compare Hitler with anybody from the Confederacy.
Let's say the student wrote that Robert E. Lee was one of the greatest military Generals of all time (true). Or that slavery was a good thing for economic prosperity in the South.
How would society have reacted differently?
My guess is that if the student wrote "pro-slavery" things by glorifying Robert E Lee or saying it was positive for the economics of the South, the student would be expelled and teacher fired if teacher didn't reprimand student.
But Jews won't react by threatening violence, so...
It's okay.
