There may be a correlation between people needing to add air to low tires and then the tires blowing out. If you've driven on a low pressure or flat tire for any length of time, you've damaged the sidewall of the tire, which is why you're supposed to stop and change or inflate a tire the minute you have an inkling that it's low in the first place.


So let's say my tire is going flat. I stop to air it up at a gas station, get it inflated, then drive off and it blows out. It blew out because the sidewall was already compromised, maybe because I way over pressurized it and since the sidewall was compromised anyway.....boom.
