I did a 3-club tournament this year. I chose 4-hybrid, 6-iron, 54 degree wedge. I putted with the hybrid all day and once I had the technique down (have to press the shaft forward so the club face is 90 degrees to the green) I putted amazingly well with it. Also used it for a lot of green-side chipping and sunk a couple. Shot pretty much my usual score of mid-80's. But you must be playing a par-3 or short executive course because there's no way you could putt from a tee box to even the start of the fairways where I play, and those water holes and holes with ditches in the middle of the fairway with no way around it except for a bridge might be a bit challenging with only a putter.
