Just passing along what he said. I don't know if he's full of shit or not, because I've been doing business with this jeweler for well over 20 years and they've always been reputable. Just...interesting.

Your jeweler is full of shit. The last Rolex I dropped off personally at Rolex Beverly Hills was repaired and completely serviced for around $1,000. Here it is for reference. If anything was going to cost $2,100, this one would be it, but nope. It was only $1,000 for complete service and repair. (By service, I mean cleaning, lubrication and adjustment.)
