I was there before 9/11. Stayed at the Waldorf Astoria (company paid trip). They took me on a little tour of some attractions. I was ready to leave when my work was finished and actually went to the airport to get on the standby list.
I wish I had known about - Little Italy and Peter Luger's steakhouse, though.
It's the only place i've been where you have to tilt your head completely back to see the sky. Big cities just not my thang.
