Funny thing about "scientists". Having learned and applied science in my job I never once called myself one. Nor have I ever heard a co-worker call themselves one regardless of their level of education or field of endeavor. Scientist is not an official title. Use of this "scientist" term is unsound logic. On the one hand implying only scientists can understand evidence is an appeal to authority. On the other implying someone can't comprehend it due to not being a scientist is an ad hominem attack. Both examples are known as unsound fallacies and mark those using such tactics as being ignorant fools.
