No, absurd is paying the outrageous premium for one of the first ZR1's and immediately turning it into a racecar. ( just the cage and initial prep work was over $40K )
Then, the "I never raced before" owner, who was on slicks even though the builder told him to learn the car on Hoosier DOT race tire ( more forgiving if you screw up ) crashed the car in warm ups before the first race.
The car was so new, parts were NOT available yet. ( Chevy was using all the available parts to build brand new ZR1s )
Mr "more money than sense" purchased another ZR1 at an outrageous premium to "borrow" parts from to fix the first one he crashed.
