This kind of started as a New Year's tradition in that there always seems to be quite a bit of champagne left over from the celebrations (am not much of a drinker because kidney stones, I usually just drink warm water with lemon daily)...and so I went hunting for ways to use it up. There is only so much champagne vinaigrette I can douse my salads with or roasts to pour champagne onto...
It's great in that there is champagne in the cake, simple syrup basting AND frosting...so the bottle gets used up more quickly
it is mighty tasty!
