Reminds me of an older comedy-type series called reaper. Some kid's parents sold out to the devil and as payment, the kid had to work for the devil capturing escaped souls.....and the kicker was that the port to retun the back to hell was at the DMV.
If it feels like hell on earth, it's a portal to hell.
