I had the opportunity to consult with an actual English teacher recently, and here's what she had to say:

I would say that "Mom" is the subject of the sentence, "took" is the verb, and "Kristie" is the direct object (and "the vet" is the indirect object), and the pronoun "she" is referring to the subject which is "Mom."
