With that being said, I did a pickup swap on a Roadworn Telecaster (Mexican) with Tex-Mex Pickups...I swapped them out for handmade Lollar 52's and the difference is remarkable. I play through a Fender Princeton Reissue. I have a few other guitars as well.

That's also why I asked about a powered pedal board.
That alone leaves room for lots-0-gifts for the next few years.
If his genre interest changes from metal, still room for more pedals.
A good dad would locate a 1971 Gibson SG with dual HB's and give that as a gift.
