For whatever reason, many people who would normally participate in such threads simply don't look past any other forum than Off Topic.
It seems to me that the FEW people who don't like gun threads can hit the back button, rather than requiring the MANY people who don't mind or actually like gun threads to go to a subforum which will see far less traffic than Off Topic.
In my humble opinion.

I understand both points of view quite well. In fact the idea was suggested by one of our more avid gun enthusiasts.
I don't care either way. The many threads on that topic don't bother me at all.
This is why I want everyone to decide.
