Before you go to all that trouble, try this:
Remove the drivers side tube(rubber) and start the car. Spray WD40 into the tube going around the rear of the manifold. Spray a LOT of WD40. Do it in small bursts. Once you've gotten quite a bit in there. Shut the car off, and replace the drivers side tube. Let it sit for an hour or so, then re-start the car. Lots of times this loosens the carbon build up and unsticks the valve.
