Default "Oil is the fuel of the past"...

So said Fearless Leader today. His re-election chances are being dimmed by soaring gasoline prices, and he is critizing Republicans for trying to increase oil supplies. He says we should be putting our money into alternative energy sources, like solar and wind power, nuclear energy, etc., in addition to oil.

Problem is, there is no viable alternative such as a a solar or wind or nuclear powered car ("Buy a new Chevy Zap! Only $870M!'). There is basic research and a few crude models, but nothing even remotely practical for everyday use. Sounds like a cop-out to me, since there is plenty of oil available for perhaps hundreds of years.
