So why do we never really see any phone shots -video or stills- of the shitholes from the guys on the ground? No ragheads blown to bits, bombed buildings, dead camels, etc.
Are you not allowed to carry your phones when deployed? Your photo would suggest otherwise.

That was taken with a camera. As to your other question, there are some pics, but most of the time there was no time to take pics. Even then, it was highly "discouraged" to take pics. Well, at least in my unit it was, but a lot of times, pics could give away key intel if they were shared out to family and friends back home and there was the possibility it would end up on social media, found, and used for nefarious reasons.
So, taking pics was frowned upon in most instances.
