Agreed I have a first gen Glock 30 in .45 acp - a sweet shooting gun but heavy and big- the top of the slide looks like the deck of an aircraft carrier....conversely my little 'ole M&P Shield compact 9mm is a nail driver in a small, concealable package. I'm leery of the smaller .45 1911 after a really bad experience with a Kimber ultra raptor jammo-matic..
