I don't think that was the point of Monk's post. He is correct that 1 set of tires will not last an entire 10-race season. A 10-race season is not on the table, it's for the remaining 6 races, which a set of tires will cover. Slow drivers barely put wear and tear on tires. Fast drivers, clinging to the very edge of out of control, will burn tires very quickly. Hence the original comment, "if 1 set lasts you a season, you're doing it wrong" is technically correct and I don't believe it was meant as a derogatory comment.
