Up north I never used anything but one surge power strip, down here I have two of them, one to the outlet, then into an isolation transformer, then into another surge/strip into which the gear plugs......when I had the McIntosh stereo, the power amp was plugged into a dedicated 20 amp line, sprung off the bathroom whirlpool .....I have had 4 direct lightening strikes on the back yard damn 100' tall oak trees, stupid ATT ran the phone lines underground down the back property lines so all the trees in the back yards on this block of course are targets, and by 'extension' so is every electron in our homes.....
Since I been here 23 years, about 2 dozen trees have fallen onto homes and I have spent over 5k$ on tree removal, plus 3 I have removed myself.....two more to go......
