My daughter wrote me a letter asking to move in with me because her mom was drinking too much. I took full custody of my daughter when she was about nine. Her younger half sister “adopted” me. She called me dad in front of her father and still calls me dad to this day. Both girls are doing fine so I guess everything works out ok in the end.
