Canon City Police Officers were dispatched at 11:27 p.m. Thursday to the 700 block of Whipple to check on the welfare of a Canon City Police Department communications officer who had failed to show for her late night shift and was not answering telephone calls.
Upon arrival at the residence officers were able to enter and found the bodies of Priscilla Samento, 49, of Canon City and Daniel Samento, a 56-year-old retired police officer of Canon City. Investigation is ongoing but all indications point towards a murder/suicide.
According to Fremont County Coroner Carlette Brocious, notification of next of kin has been completed.. Anyone who may have information pertinent to this case is asked to call the Canon City Police Department at 276-5600 or contact Crime Stoppers, information listed below.
