To wake the phone you swipe from the bottom up and facial recognition instantly recognizes your face. When you set up the recognition you have to rotate your head two times in a circle. So far mine has not failed to recognize me when opening it up.
It is pretty easy to use and I like the size of it. The screen is better than the 6 Plus I had and the footprint of the phone is smaller.
I understand you can make a "Virtual" home button but I am getting used to the swipe and facial recognition quickly. I have some accounts already set up to use the facial versus the fingerprint.
