If it's any consolidation to you, that is a dormouse. We had a squirrel here last year before we brought the cats over that would come up to our terrace which is on top of the garage. Climbed up the house wall and waited for us to provide it with nuts. Which I would find hidden in various planters.
It didn't stick around when the cats arrived.
