Day 1 in the books. Shiny side still up. Unlike the last time I was here, they now require helmets and HANS devices....and as you'd guess, I DO NOT FIT!!!
BUT....
They put me in one with a Kirkey racing seat and 5-point harness and I fit PERFECTLY! Tomorrow is going to be fun. In my afternoon lead/follow session, our group only had 5 drivers (vs. 6 for the other 2), I started first behind the instructor, and on a 1.5 mile course, we caught the tail end of the pack in 2.5 laps.
There are two of us in our group who are seasoned. Tomorrow for the 3 lead/follow sessions, they will shuffle us around by skill level, and should make for much better lap times.
OH...and there was an entire film crew there today, and we all had to sign waivers, apparently GM is filming the school to put on their Corvette Academy website, so I may be in it. Also, there was a C8 Z06 hot lapping there today.
