Yea, they very well may have lied, for whatever reason that I certainly don't understand, but I sure as hell wouldn't be driving far enough to warrant a stop for a hot meal without verifying, even if it was a simple mistake or miscommunication somehow. I'd say that the old adage that "things that sound too good to be true usually are" is pretty applicable here.
