Never once during this entire pandemic have I heard "Do not wear a mask".
I think they were discouraging people buying is mass as there was a shortage for healthcare workers. But again, I don't watch the news to get my info.
Honestly, one of the main failures of masks is user error.

Masks DO lower transmission rates, that is not debatable. Proven... now, if some lay person touches the mask constantly, improperly puts it on and takes off (just like gloves) the mask is probably doing more harm than good truthfully.
