Most people I see doing push ups do them going part of the way to the ground and "mostly" back up all the way.
I do them with a straight back and until my chest touches the ground and back to an arm locked up position.
I can probably do no more than 30 of those without a break.
In my twenties we would regularly do 50 at a shot. Not anymore

I was never good at sit-ups or pull-ups. In fact, I wasn't very athletic at all. For some reason I could do pushups. It helps that I weighed about 120 lbs back then. Our standard for doing pushups was all the way up with your elbows locked in a straight position, then down to a spotter's fist on the ground knuckles up.
In the 7th grade we did the same, but no time limit and you could rest in the up position. I did 75 then.
