Centuries ago people travelled by horseback. But most have embraced modern technology.
Sure you could keep a bunch of pails of rice or use the modern version called DampRid to keep humidity and moisture down in a vacant home. Or some other ancient method. Most, including myself would just use the air conditioning.

I admit to using the DampRid in the camper when it sat in storage. But once I installed hookups at my house I used the air conditioning.
So nice to enter a camper (or home or any building) after it’s been sitting for a spell and it’s cool and fresh.
