This is key, and telling. In America, you used to be able to CHOOSE what type of vehicle you wanted to buy. Competition was fierce and the result was affordable quality cars that plain worked, like the Model T Ford. At the time the T was introduced in 1909, there were more electric vehicles in the US than gas. EV's of the era could go the same speed as a gas car on the dirt roads of the day and could get 50-70 miles on a charge. They fell out of favor due to the electric starter being introduced and bigger and faster cars with longer ranges.

But, the public drove the production, marketing, sales, and success. Not the government. Like now. Soviet Russia had about 2 cars over the past 80 years, both pieces of crap.

The socialist slant our government has taken is trying to dictate what we buy, where we live, where to go, and how to be happy with nothing.

We must resist this tyrnany at all costs.
