The term illegal immigrant rankles me no end. My grandparents were legal immigrants from Italy; they came here through Ellis Island in the 1890s. Learned the language fast and prospered, stayed out of trouble and became good citizens.
I never use the term illegal immigrants when referring to these criminal, border jumping, wetback assholes. Many of the border jumpers have no intention of become good citizens or learning the language, shit no if anything they want us to learn Spanish to speak with them!
