Interesting choice of words. I would say it isn't the core values that are the issue. It is the peripheral, loose flying, unprocessed, poorly thought out, illogical values that are the root of discord.
The old Dems just had a different path to a similar result.
New Dems have no path and laser focus on an emotional need with minimal consideration for any ripple effect or collateral damage.
That's a broadbrush statement, but it sums up my observations.
